How Do We Pray? (3:08)

There are many interpretations of who God is and where God is. As a child, I saw God as an old man with a white beard way up in Heaven. I would ask God for things in the same way that I childishly asked Santa for toys.  That was how I saw the almighty one back then.

But, now I view God as a being made up of little sparks of the divine energy that is in all of us. When I say “all” I mean everything on earth: rocks, trees, the sea, animals, angels and people. God has become for me a part of all these things.

"It is like a Seurat painting where every dot makes up the mural of God, and each of us and everything else are those dots."

“It is like a Seurat painting where every dot makes up the mural of God, and each of us and everything else are those dots.”

But then, how do we pray to something or someone that is already within us?  I asked the angels and, over the course of two days, the answer I got back is as follows:  What if, when we pray, we join in the chorus of prayers sung out over the universe, a chorus that is much stronger than our one small voice.

When we express love to others and when we pray, a medley of appreciation and love for our Creator sings out. If all of us send out the love generated in prayer at the same time, it’s as if we are sending out a beautiful shining beam into the universe. The vibration of such a chorus would make the clouds sing and the earth vibrate at a new level we have never seen.  In my mind it is like having the entire sky of our world glowing like an aurora borealis.

It is all of us together, loving in unison, that makes up our God. It is like a Seurat painting where every dot makes up the mural of God, and each of us and everything else are those dots.

Why pray? I asked.  The answer came back, “In prayer we add one more instrument to the holy choir of heaven.” As a unit with the help of our Angels, we find strength in doing what we can for ourselves. We thank the universe for lessons learned and for the awesome things we have experienced that make ourselves better beings.
